Last night, Sue and I went to to a Robbie Burns night put on by the Men of Vision Pipe and Drum Band. It was a fundraiser, which included a silent auction, to help the band go to Scotland for a festival. A key part of the evening was addressing the haggis and after this was done we all tucked into a plate of haggis and mashed potatoes. I've never carbo loaded on haggis and it wasn't half baaaaad.

Sunday morning. I'm not sure if haggis is the best food for carbo loading. My stomach was a little delicate as I walked up to the start line at 8.30am for the first of my weeks marathons. Sunday is turning into Cochrane Running Club day. Five members of the group were waiting at the start line and we trundled off down the 1A. About 2km down the road were two police cars and a fire truck. There had been a head on crash about 1/2 hr earlier, with devastating effects. We skirted aound the debris and ran into the wind for the first half.

We met up with another 9 club members at the 24km mark and, with the wind behind us, we decended towards the finish line. I got a brutal blister on my little toe on my left foot (what a big baby!), is this the end?
