One thing I had forgoten to mention yesterday was that, I had a chat with the two goalies from the U8 Blue Jays and Pink Flamingoes girls teams after the game. Both of them were not happy with the new Tim Hortons tournament ball. They felt it moved too much in the air and it was like kicking a Boston Cream Doughnut. Harsh criticism indeed.

This morning, Sue and I headed into Calgary to run some of the pathways.  We started at the Shouldice Pool, then crossed the river at Edworthy and ran along the South bank of the Bow. Along the path, we meet two fellows standing next to a 10km turn around sign. I asked what was going on and was told it was the 10km run for the Calgary Philharmonic Orchestra. So, on that note, we headed towards Eau Claire Market. At the 3km marker we were offered water and given a big cheer. As we approched Eau Claire we saw the huge Running Room finish line. It didn't seem right to cross so we ducked around and went for a coffee.

Avatar Marathon Martin, continuing on his virtual trip across North America, recently spent a very enjoyable day at the Dunder Mifflin paper operations in Scranton, Pennsylvania. Michael Scott talked to Marathon Martin about his running career so far and his hopes for the future. He highlighted the "5km Run for Rabies", an event that he had organized and, in his mind won, as his greatest achivement so far. He felt that he didn't need to bother with a 10km, 1/2 Marathon or Marathon but go straight to an Ultra. He had heard of an event called the "Rottenwater 135 mile Ultra" (or something like it) and this was for him. Avatar Marathon Martin gave him a couple of tips then quickly left.

Quote of the Day

"I can honestly say that I was never affected by the question of the success of an undertaking. If I felt it was the right thing to do, I was for it regardless of the possible outcome"
