On Friday, I went for a VO2 max test with Serge at Cochrane Sport Physio. I had completed one at the start of MQ 250 but we wanted to see what had changed over the last 4 months. Basically, VO2 max is the maximum capacity of an individual's body to transport and utilize oxygen during incremental exercise, which reflects the physical fitness of the individual. In Serge's email to me on the results he comments: "Your VO2 max has increased from 50.3 ml/kg/min to 53.3 ml/kg/min. To no surprise, this score places you in a category well above average, but what is surprising is that despite your long history as an endurance athlete, you continue to show measurable, significant increases in your peak VO2.  I anticipated seeing your profile change from the first to second, but I was surprised to see this increase." Good news!

Early start this morning, off to Fish Creek Park in the South end of Calgary. I arrived at the park gates at 8.15am and they were all locked up. Another car was there and it was Cool Kids Running Club Leader Neil. We spotted a parks truck driving by and we waved him down. Soon a group of 27 of us (plus 2 little girls) were ready to do the Cool Kids fundraiser. Neil had contacted me a while back and asked if he could set this up. No problem. So, after a few words to the group, we were off. Neil had lined up a coffee and cookie stop along the way and lunch was a cinnimon bun. The group completed 18km and I headed off to finish the remaining 24km. The temperature was getting hottter and hotter but I've started wearing my "Lawerence of Arabia" head gear which protects my head (bald), ears (big), neck (red) and top of my shoulders (white).

As of this evening the "Cool Kids" had raised $260 for Right To Play. Much appreciated.
