After yesterday's white knuckle drive, I decided to stay close to home. This was a good decision. All morning, the news talked about gridlock in Calgary, nothing moving and fender benders throughout the City. My plan was simple. Head out my front door and walk 200m to the pathway system, then run a 1.25km loop. Repeat 34 times. This I did, interupting the run every 10km for a cup of tea and throwing my stuff in the dryer to warm it up.

In today's Calgary Herald, I was disappointed to read about the Stampeders pep rally, which took place on Monday. Only two people were there cheering. Come on Calgary, this is your team. I'm please to say that it's pretty well a sellout for Sunday, 35,000 in McMahon stadium. Should be a blast.

With all this in mind, I felt it was important for me to read the CFL Rule Book cover to cover. When I take the opening kick off I don't want an infraction or give away a needless penalty. There was an item in "Rule 5, Kicking", that caught my eye. Section 2, Kick off, Article 1, Points of kick off (d) states " If the opening kick off is taken by a Charity Activist, Mayor of the home City or Celebrity Chef and a field goal is scored then the home team will recieve 1 (one) point". Apparently, the Stampeders originally wanted Chef Ramsey to take the kick off but Montreal have him booked for their game against the Argos. Good choice.

Q: Why didn't the chicken cross the road?
A: Because there was a KFC on the other side!
