The Rotary Club of Cochrane have been a great supporter of Marathon Quest 250. They sponsored the printing of 50 large scale maps, that showed the virtual route across North America, that Avatar Marathon Martin has been on for the last 10 months. Today, I gave the breakfast group an update on how things had been going and the donations raised to date. The meeting finished at 8.15am and I was off to my school #43, Ecole Notre Dame des Vallees. Luckily, the school is only 200m from the Rotary Club's venue. So, at 8.17am, I was having coffee in Teacher Meredith's classroom.

I had run at this school back in April, when Teacher Meredith completed the marathon with me. Unfortunately, today she was sick malad. However, this didn't stop every grade from coming out and running anywhere from 1 km to 10km. Four grade 8 students joined me for a 10km loop and one of the kids, Nicholas, told me about his grandad, who had worked in a Potash Mine in Saskatchewan. We also talked about the trapped miners in Chile and I told him about the gold mine I worked at in Yellowknife, NWT.

Q: Why are fish so smart?
A: Because they live in schools.
